How to re-boot a modem/router if you don't have internet

Your modem should have a direct connection coming from the wall and your router should be connected to your modem. Sometimes a 2-in-1 device is set up meaning it is both the modem and the router. The modem and router will typically will have numerous lights on the front (which may be turned off if it is not working correctly).

Unplug the power cable from both the modem and router for 3 minutes.

It is important you wait for 3 minutes in order for the unit to power down and for the networking to re-configure automatically.

After 3 minutes you can plug the modem and router back in to the power source.

After 5-10 minutes of the modem and router being plugged in, you should see the icons on the router and modem start to light up.

You can now test your network again.
